Scratchfilm Animation Workshop
This fun and creative workshop is open to anyone interested in creativity, art, animation or filmmaking - no previous experience required! You’ll make your own scratchfilm animation using handmade techniques and materials. By the end of the day, you’ll have made original animated sequences, that will be digitized and edited as a collective film to share online. A maximum of 15 participants ensures an individualised experience and the day is fully catered including nibbles and lunch. Open to all ages 18+. Concession prices available.
In this unique one-day workshop you will be able to explore your inner creativity and learn the basics of animation by making a scratchfilm, in a studio environment. You’ll be guided to animate simple drawings as well as stylised or abstract images in imaginative ways. You’ll use techniques of scratching, drawing, painting, and collaging on actual film, using provided tools, materials, 35mm film and a lightbox. During the workshop, your scratchfilm will be digitised for viewing the animation in motion. The session will result in a completed film by all participants. You’ll then be able to download and share the video!
All materials and tools are provided at the workshop. Free street parking. Morning tea, nibbles and lunch are included on the day.
